Your capital has
a worldview.
Does it match
your own?

The Council asks a simple question: What role do we want our capital to play?

The Dilemma

Here’s the dilemma.

On the one hand, legacy-focused capital wants to appreciate.

On the other hand, the appreciation of that capital inside an extractive system undermines the world we want to live in, and the world we want to pass on.

The Legacy Council is a container where we can hold capital a little more lightly, so it can flow with a different scope of possibility.

Two Orientations

A reactive somatic state drives a scarcity orientation to capital, which prioritizes extraction.

This orientation creates a cycle where the three uses of capital reinforce a belief of “never enough,” which is then funded by accumulation where the capital holder is detached from the potential costs of their accumulation. Over a long enough time period, the severed relation between capital and its affects has a tendency to consume the very things that make life meaningful.

A grounded somatic state reorients capital around flourishing, which prioritizes regeneration.

In this orientation, the locus switches from capital “happening” to its holder, to its holder channeling their own flourishing through their capital. We honestly don’t know what this capital orientation would look like at scale, though at the individual and communal level, it unlocks greater potential.

Four resources for human flourishing.

Throughout human history, the formula for a meaningful and happy life has been surprisingly consistent. We’re exploring how capital best supports it.
